1908 - Melitta Bentz invents the coffee filter
Melitta Bentz, from Dresden, comes up with the ingenious idea to banish coffee grounds from cups using a paper filter. With a patent on her invention, M. Bentz, entered in the Dresden commercial register on 15 December.
1937 - A perfect couple
The shape of the coffee filter changes: It is slit-shaped at the bottom. To match this, the coffee filters known today as filter bags were developed and patented.
1965 - Electrified coffee
The first filter coffee makers push aside manual filtering. Melitta® is one of the first vendors of electric coffee makers, with the 120 filter
coffee machine. For the time, it is the fastest way of obtaining filtered coffee.
2002 - Outstanding design
The coffee porcelain M Collection by Melitta® has been awarded with the “Red dot award 2002" in the Product Design category.
2010 - Introduction of Caffeo® CI®, Enjoy®
Melitta® introduces the Caffeo® CI® fully automatic coffee maker and the Enjoy® filter coffee maker.
2012: Caffeo Barista TS - gourmet barista coffee machine
